Course Selection and Scheduling Overview

Course Selection: All El Segundo High School 9th, 10th, 11th grade students must be enrolled in six ESHS courses. 12th grade students who are in good standing on track to graduate must be enrolled in at least 5 ESHS courses.

Course selections are prioritized, not guaranteed. It is important that students select alternative courses in the event they are not enrolled in their preferred course. If an alternate course is not indicated, the student will be placed in courses based on graduation requirements and course availability.

Course Change Information: The add/drop window for all courses will be the second week of the semester. Students need to determine prior to that date whether or not they wish to continue in a course or change to another course. Students need to meet with a counselor to make that change in their schedule. The level-down window will be the sixth week of the semester. Students need to determine prior to that date whether or not they wish to level down from an accelerated course into the regular course. Students need to meet with a counselor to make that change in their schedule. Grades earned in a dropped course follow the student into the newly added course if the new course is in the same subject area. Note: All change request approvals will be determined by Master Schedule course availability.
